Inspiration, Encouragement & Instructions
". . . let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."
(Hebrews 12:1, NIV)
(Hebrews 12:1, NIV)
Yes, you read that right, I am an under-cover agent. I look like a simple, ordinary woman, age 32, married, 3 adorable children, light brown hair with a few grey ones removed now & then, average weight, average height, mostly normal hobbies (for a Northern Minnesotan woman, that is), a degree in Communication Arts & Literature Education, and in hot-pursuit of a Master's in Education & Learning. But really, it is all just a disguise. Who I really am is so much more than what can be seen in a picture, on a piece of paper, or organized in small status updates on Facebook. Because who I am is made up of experiences, beliefs, and relationships, words just can not begin to reveal all of how the coming together of these three things defines me. But the frequent inability to make myself known through words has only helped me to realize that with the use of titles, categories, and labels I can have an alias with which to complete my under-cover work. Part of who that under-cover person is, is an agent seeking to find lives that are in need of something that I can offer. It is not an easy job to be constantly looking for clues in the relationships and circumstances around me. Clues that will help me know people enough to know how to meet needs small or big, tangible or intangible. But my disguise helps me to fit-in, look normal and ask questions. I can build relationships with other like-titled, like-labeled, like-categorized people, and without them knowing, continue my mission as a change agent. What exactly is my mission you might ask? To secretly work in various areas of my community to lead people to a type of change that empowers them to know more, love more, feel, more, give more, praise more, encourage more, see beyond themselves more--to contribute to a community in a way that brings unity and strength to the whole. The great thing about this mission is that it can be worked on in my home, on my block, in my classroom, at my church, and even in the world, through internet connections with friends who literally live around the globe. Who I really am will likely be gradually revealed as I take time here to share about my life altering experiences, beliefs, and relationships. But that will likely be a slow uncovering process, because even this under-cover agent sometimes can not find the real her underneath it all until she sits down to write. Sometimes the line between agent and who I really am becomes quite blurry, but I hope even in those times, my mission will remain the same. So, feel free to come along for the ride (but don't blow my cover!). I am guessing you too are an under cover agent of sorts, that you too have a cover that doesn't really define who you are and that you too have a mission that is only really understood when the real you is at work. Jaclyn LoweenHer family and friends know her as, Jaci. She is the wife of a pastor, a mom of four, writing and communications education instructor, a visionary and an avid runner. As a firm believer in the power and effectiveness of the body of Christ united together to live out the Great Commission, she holds fast to this verse, "Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19). Of equal importance to her are these words, "...let us run with endurance the race that is set before us" (Hebrews 12:1). Posts in the Run for Your Life, series:
